Mr. Contractor continues to move forward. Since it’s mostly just him doing the work, progress is moving slowly but steadily.

Looking in through the basement window.
While the slab is yet to be poured, the downstairs plumbing stubs are in place, and the site awaits inspection ahead of the next step.

The basement plumbing stubs and the drain to the septic tank.
Once the current progress has been inspected and approved, we should be able to get the slab poured and leveled. Then we wait for the concrete to cure. With a cold front forecast to roll at the end of next week, heating blankets will likely be needed to ensure it cures properly.
My timing on today’s trek up the mountain to check progress couldn’t have been better. As I arrived at the property, I saw someone checking out the building site. I assumed it might have been the building inspector. No, even better, the fellow will be moving our home up the mountain and placing it on the foundation.
That meeting made me feel like this is getting even more real. Up until now, parts have been moving, but they’ve been moving separately. This was the first time it felt like everything could /really/ happen, and this wasn’t all just a dream. Life has had a surreal quality for the last couple of years, and today felt like a “pinch me” moment.
While the waiting is hard, I keep our new view in mind. Before we know it, we’ll be looking out at this.

Our soon-to-be view.
(It looks better without the smog layer.)
