First Reader and I drove up to the property yesterday afternoon to see how the house was coming along. Mr. Contractor was busy backfilling the west side of the basement.

It was a pleasant surprise to find him working on a frigid Saturday, moving dirt from one of the piles he’d made a few weeks ago to the basement’s backside. We chatted for a few minutes, then he returned to playing in the dirt.

Unfortunately, the cold front that blew in this week prevented the slab from getting poured on Friday. Hopefully, the temperatures will warm up enough this coming week that Mr. Contractor can get that done. Otherwise, he’ll have to frame the front and heat the basement so they can pour the concrete.
All this will be framed in soon.
We’re making slow but steady progress and, once again, taking it one day at a time.
