Mr. Contractor has been making steady progress on our construction. He has been moving dirt from areas that will someday contain a garage but will be parking and “toy” storage until that happens. For now, though, it’s our dirt source.

Our dirt source.
Peeking in the downstairs window opening, we could see that he’s been packing the dirt layer, then adding a few inches of “squeegee,” the pea gravel.

Looking in through the basement “window.”
The region received its first measurable snowfall of the season last Thursday morning. Still, it was mostly gone when we drove up yesterday. While the ground wasn’t snow-covered, it was muddy, so First Reader opted to stay in the car for most of the (short) visit rather than get her shoes yucky. I picked a careful path around the worst of the muck and noticed that our construction site had a four-legged visitor recently.

A curious critter came through, I hope it didn’t think this was a litter box. 🤭
Progress is slow but steady. By next week, the slab should be poured and our initials carved in concrete. We can hardly wait.
