Rebuilding the Dream, Pt 38
Temperatures in the low 90s gave way to temperatures in the upper 90s and low 100s last week. Which, of course, made the journey back from our awesome camping trip into half a nightmare. We arrived at our campsite Friday afternoon as planned, then argued with the pop-up camper, trying to get it set up … Continue reading Rebuilding the Dream, Pt 38
Rebuilding the Dream, Pt 37
And just like that, daytime temperatures are in the 90s with a cycle of afternoon thunderstorms that can spawn tornadoes on the plains. Gotta love Springtime in the Rockies. With Memorial Day come and gone, we’ve been planning our summer camping schedule. Which started this weekend with a women’s motorcycle camp out and mini-rally. Our … Continue reading Rebuilding the Dream, Pt 37
Rebuilding the Dream, Pt 36
Paperwork has been the theme of the week. We got our disaster loan contract a few weeks ago and have been slogging through the “heretofores” and “wherebys” ever since. It’s pretty straightforward, but it’s still the kind of reading that puts me to sleep. Once we both finally read it to the end, we called … Continue reading Rebuilding the Dream, Pt 36
Rebuilding the Dream, Pt 33
The spring snowstorms have been giving way to spring rainstorms. While we did have a few inches of snow on Monday, it was not only gone by Tuesday, but the temperatures actually brought out the shorts. For about a day, then we were back into sweats and jeans. And the region seems to have settled … Continue reading Rebuilding the Dream, Pt 33

Last Sunday, we put out a call to friends and family to help us get the rest of the ash and debris bagged up and … Continue reading Rebuilding the Dream, Pt 32
Rebuilding the Dream, Pt 31
We have had a busy yet uneventful week. Monday, we took advantage of the warm before the storm and moved another carload of goodies from one storage unit to the other. I know it sounds like we’re doing busy work, and we sort of are, but we’re trying to shed as many unnecessary payments as … Continue reading Rebuilding the Dream, Pt 31
Rebuilding the Dream, Pt 30
Most of the week was cold and snowy, so we weren’t able to get up to the property to get anything done there or at our storage unit. Had we known this would be such a quiet week, we would have headed to Las Vegas for a much-needed getaway. Ah well, hindsight is 20/20. We … Continue reading Rebuilding the Dream, Pt 30
Rebuilding the Dream, Pt 29
Five or six years ago, we redecorated our living room. In the process, we boxed a bunch of stuff up and took it to a storage unit we had in town. That storage unit, like my mother’s, has stayed relatively untouched all these years. (C) 2021, JJ ShaunWe got a bunch of packing material out … Continue reading Rebuilding the Dream, Pt 29
Rebuilding the Dream, Pt 28
Now that the weather has shifted from Winter to Spring, we are starting to get phone calls and emails regarding our property and building. Methinks our life is about to kick into high gear. We managed to finally complete the federal disaster aid application and get it submitted. What a pain that was, but it’s … Continue reading Rebuilding the Dream, Pt 28
