We took a drive up to the property today. We didn’t know what to expect since we didn’t watch the process, and the pictures Glenn sent were from before he finished.

While we knew that the debris had been removed, we weren’t prepared for the emotional impact of seeing the hole.

We still have work to do before we’re ready to build, but at least now we have an idea of what we need to do beforehand.

The land looks colorless in a season made to look even more desolate by the fire.

In a couple of months, the wildflowers and grasses will start to peek out of the soil, and we will have a better idea of which trees might or might not survive. Until then, we wait until Spring arrives, and the landscape changes with the season.
