At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, World War I ended when the Armistice of Compiègne was signed at Le Francport in Northern France. Originally honoring the veterans of WWI, Armistice Day was later renamed Veteran’s Day to honor all veterans of military service.
