Evacuation Day 8

Two days ago, we received news that half of our neighborhood was consumed by wildfire, including our humble abode.

First Reader and I have spent the last few days waiting and wondering what was going on. We’ve been denied entry to our community daily because of the dangerous conditions. Fortunately, a couple of our neighbors managed to get up the mountain. They were able to report what the authorities have not yet told us — our house, along with the northern half of our community, is gone.

We’ll go up in a day or so, when it’s safe, and begin assessing the damage. We will then come up with a plan to move forward.
