Six years ago, we lost our home to wildfire. We’ve since rebuilt and moved back up to our mountain home. Have we fully recovered? That’s an interesting question.
Most of the trees are still burnt matchsticks, habitat for the many wild things that live here. It’s a stark reminder of past years. Not having trees along our northern boundary took away the natural wind break protecting our little pocket meadow. The wind comes over the ridge a lot stronger now. We need to make sure to secure everything outside, or bring it indoors if possible.
But, we’re home.
