Rebuilding the Dream, Pt 135

Mr. Sub-Contractor contacted me on Wednesday morning with pictures of snow patches covering the ground where the slab was to be poured. Temperatures were hovering near freezing. Needless to say, the weather tantrum Tuesday night put a temporary halt on our latest efforts to get the house completed. sigh The concrete folks rescheduled for Friday.

And that was a bust because the storm settled in for the next several days, saturating the ground. We’re expecting more rain today and tomorrow, then the weather should clear up enough to give us a window of opportunity. I say “should” because not much has cooperated with us on this project. It’s been an uphill battle all the way. We still feel like Sisyphus pushing that bleeping rock up that bleeping mountain. If we weren’t so far along, I’d be tempted to quit and find another option. But, with the house built and the basement half finished, we have little choice but to plunge ahead.

We’ll begin another flurry of phone calls and emails tomorrow, and hope that the logjam finally breaks free.
