Rebuilding the Dream, Pt 81

What a week! We’ve been on the phone with an escrow company, our contractor, sales reps, forestry folks, and case managers, trying to wrap up our financing with a pretty red ribbon. Now that the loan language has been fixed, our paperwork is moving fast. We’ve signed and sent the latest note modification to the SBA for final review. I see the light at the end of the tunnel. Here’s to good juju.

And it’s all coming together just in time, too. This week, our house goes on the production line. (It’s been eighteen months, five-hundred forty-six days since we were burned out.) We’ve received emails about some of the finishing touches in the last week. However, it’s still hard to believe it’s all about to become a reality. I don’t suppose it’ll feel real until everything is in place and we’ve been living there a minute or ten.

And, of course, it’s all happening while we are on vacation. A few months ago, we decided we’d waited long enough to make a Spring vacation plan, so we just did it. First Reader booked us a week’s stay off the Strip in Las Vegas. We leave on Thursday this week and won’t be back until the end of the month. (So, yes, most of my posts for the week have already been planned, written, and scheduled, this one included.)

We have informed all of the players of our plans for next week and let them know that we will still be available by email and phone. As of now, no one expects the documentation to be complete and ready for signature before the first week of May. We’ll see how that works out. Doesn’t it figure that everything wants to happen at once, and, of course, after we’ve made plans. (Had I known that we would have gone sooner. 😉)

Wish us luck. Maybe the gods will smile on us and bless us with a jackpot, then all this will become a moot point. (HA!)
