We had another busy yet unproductive week. Well, maybe not totally unproductive, but close.
The most significant event for the week was our interview on Tuesday by one of the local TV stations. The affiliate is getting ready to air a week-long segment on Western wildfires. Our local case manager asked if we would be interested in telling our story. After thinking about it for a few days, we said yes.
We decided to share our experience because this year is already shaping up to be a disastrous fire season. Here it is the end of June, and the Western US is already seeing its share of smoke in the air.

To make matters worse, a dangerous heatwave is assaulting the Pacific Northwest, adding to the extreme fire conditions. We expect that heatwave to make it to our region sometime during the week. For now, we are soaking up the rain with which Mother Nature has deluged us. We’ve heard reports of localized flooding in the burn areas with the latest series of thunderstorms.
The other event of note was we got our first estimate on getting the electricity turned back on. Boy, was that an eye-opening number. We might have to regroup and get another estimate. Even if we dug the ditches, the amount is still on the pricey side.
I need to get off my lazy butt and get a drawing to our soon-to-be modular home provider. Then, we can begin planning our new home.
