Another weekend, another protest. Once more, First Reader and I stayed local rather than travel to the Big City. We used to head there because not much happened in our town, but now rallies happen every day to protest what’s happening with our government. We The People of the United States are more than a little sick of the shenanigans going on in Washington D.C.

The United States is supposed to be a nation of laws, though it’s becoming more and more apparent that those currently at the helm think they’re exempt from said laws. The Founders wrote Due process into the US Constitution. In fact, the Fourth and Fifth Amendments address the issue directly.

Fourth Amendment
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Fifth Amendment
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

Right now, those laws are being ignored. If I tried to dress in black, jump out of an unmarked van, and kidnap someone off the street, I’d be arrested, tried, and sent to prison. And I’d probably get a harsher sentence if I sold the person I kidnapped to another country. Yet, that’s exactly what’s happening on the streets of the United States today. That’s not making us safer.

So, We The People take to the streets and protest. Here are some pictures from our rally.

Keep the faith, folks. The only way to protect the US Constitution is to let our so-called leaders know that We The People take that document seriously—especially those of us who served honorably when our President, Congress, and Judges believed in the document we took an oath to defend ‘against all enemies, foreign and domestic’.
