(C) 2014, JJ Shaun

After our writer’s group this past week, one of our newer members asked if I would post her poems.

Knock on Wood

By Stella Goldberg

First smile, then ‘knock on wood’
As this may bring us luck as best it could

Wood is handy for so much
and it’s especially lucky when knocked with a loving touch

We are all lucky at one time or another
and when we ‘knock on wood’ good fortune may appear as the loving mother

Let us enjoy life as it comes each day
and it might even help if we say ‘hip-hip-hooray!’

Hope for Tomorrow

By Stella Goldberg

Tomorrow is a new day
for us to be thankful and glad to accept or reject whatever comes our way

If tomorrow comes along
then we have a new day to make it go right or wrong

We are fortunate if tomorrow is in store for us
to be lived with good sense and without a fuss

Whether our life is long or short
if we have tomorrow, then our ship comes to port

Since life is the most important thing we own
then let us enjoy it until we are called to our final home

PS. Happy birthday, Stella!
