Rebuilding the Dream, Pt 149

I’ve been staying in close contact with Mr. Sub-Contractor. He’s probably tiring of my asking, “Are you done yet?”

This past week, the electrician was up to hook up electricity. Yay, the house now has lights. But not much more. The next task scheduled for completion next week is the downstairs window and door installation, inching us closer to having a proper home. I’ll have pictures when they’re installed. There really wasn’t much to show about the electric, other than the lights work.

The next major projects are the septic, water, and gas hookup. We’re reaching out to the propane company and a plumber, since Mr. S-C’s contact isn’t his returning phone calls. We also need the inside completed and the transport damage repaired. Because the house has been sitting half-finished for the last six or more weeks, I’ll insist on a full inspection of the attic space to make sure no weather damage has occurred.

And now we’re in September, and hints of autumn are in the air. I’ve noticed a few trees with leaves beginning to turn from their full summer green to a more faded, brownish tone. They covered one yard I passed on my morning walks in fallen leaves.

We’re ready to get this project moving toward completion. As much as we love Best Riding Buddy, all of us are ready to have our own space back.
