Earlier this week, we met with Mr. Sub-Contractor to discuss stairs, windows, siding, decks, and the basement door. Our original idea was to have a wrap-around deck, but with the cost of materials right now, that won’t happen.
We opted for a 10 x 10 platform leading into the dining room on the main level, and a walkway leading to the laundry room door. The front will have a walk-out deck that leads to the hot tub. A surgeon advised First Reader to have a hot tub almost thirty years ago after a severe motorcycle accident, and we have had one since. These last three years have proved the value of owning one, as the fire deprived us of the experience.
While we haven’t been up to verify, Mr. S-C said the electrician was going to start on hooking up the electricity this week. Once that’s done, he’ll have the plumbers and well maintenance company come in to hook up the septic and water. Then, we’ll talk to the set-crew about scheduling the rest of the house completion.
We don’t have a time-frame for when the work will be completed as yet. First Reader and I expect that to be sometime in September, but I guess we’ll find out. Then, of course, we’ll need the Certificate of Occupancy. After the house is done and ready, we’ll have that hill to climb. *sigh*
