Rebuilding the Dream, Pt 142

The word of the week is anticipation. I received a phone call from one of our community members letting me know the schedule for the upcoming house move.

On Wednesday, July 5, our house will move to a spot close to the bottom of our mountain. As long as the wind isn’t ripping along the Front Range, we’re good. On Thursday, July 6, the house moving experts will drive each half up the mountain and stage them somewhere on our property. I’m not exactly sure where, but I’ll have pictures next week. On Friday, July 7, a crane will arrive to lift both halves onto the foundation.

That’s when the actual work begins. The house halves need to be permanently affixed to the basement walls and each other. Then the peak of the roof will be completed. Our sales rep guesstimates the finishing work could take six to ten weeks. In addition, our water, septic, and electric will need hooked up, tested, and inspected. We still have a lot of work to do before we can move into our new home.

For now, though, we’re waiting again. Only this time, it looks like it could be real. I’ll let you know for sure next week.
