To quote Kurt Vonnegut: ‘And so it goes.’
We are now on rain delay, per the house mover. The five-day forecast calls for rain the better part of the day for the next few days. So, once more, we wait. I can’t say I’m surprised. Delays have been the theme of this project.
Yesterday, we had an opportunity to (finally) make it up to mow the meadow and trim the weeds around the shed and the camper. With the copious amounts of rain, the grasses are growing like… well, weeds. We like to keep the field mowed because the Canada Thistle will take over if we don’t. While the weed is (almost) pretty to look at, the spiky leaves make it a pain to traverse when I need to go out into the deep grass. Besides, if we keep it from flowering and going to seed, we have a much better chance of the wild bergamot (https://conps.org/wild-bergamot/) blooming.
Unfortunately, we ran into more flat tires than we had juice in our portable air compressor. After inflating three tires, the poor thing sounded like it needed new lungs. So, we settled for getting all the engines running. Then took care of a bit of weed-whacking around the shed and the camper.

The weeds around the camper.

After whacking the weeds.
By that time, the clouds were threatening to dump on us and we heard the rumble of thunder in the distance. We put the compressor in the camper to charge, the toys back in the shed for safekeeping, then left to try again another day.
